Yes. SIF was incorporated in 1998 by the Government of Ghana together with the African Development Bank and the United Nations Development Programme, and operates as an independent, pro-poor development institution.

SIF operates through four zones: Savannah Belt, Forest & Transition, Western Coast and Eastern Seaboard, covering all sixteen regions.
